SLIPKNOT Pull Out Of Japan's SONICMANIA Festival

January 8, 2004

As first predicted here on Dec. 22, SLIPKNOT have now officially cancelled their previously announced appearance at the Sonicmania festival, a two-day event set to take place in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan on January 31-February 1, 2004. An official statement from the festival organizers has attributed the cancellation to the band's desire to concentrate on completing their new album, tentatively due in the summer through Roadrunner Records. A replacement act has yet to be announced.

SLIPKNOT's previously announced show in Korea was cancelled late last month after the group indicated that they needed more time to finish up the follow-up to 2001's "Iowa". The Des Moines-based nine-piece were due to perform at Seoul's 12,000-capacity "Jam Sil" Indoor Sports Center on February 3 in what would have marked their first-ever appearance in Korea.
